Little to the left... Sam helping Christian try to get the BIG ONE!

I just wanna Beach!

"I just wanna Beach," Dane says every day after work. He, the girls, and I had a blast seeing this movie. We tried to get the boys to join, but their testosterone forbade it. Hands down, our favorite character was the forgotten Allen.

BOOMER GAZETTE

Every week Dane and I do a PSA for the kiddos. Do they read it? Sam...

That said, we enjoy informing the kiddos of the week's plans so they can veto a dinner (usually Christian). We then work on the grocery list. Still, some kiddos complain there's NOTHING good to eat :( So sad, so very, very, sad. Our critters appreciate me the most! They don't talk back, give me tons of affection, and ask very little of me. Food, a clean litter box, and a short walk equal happiness!

It can't rain all the time!

Today was quite eventful. I took care of some SAHM duties and helped my mom with her house cleaning. While I was at her place, Dane called me. Eeek... he stepped on a nail while working on the new addition for Emma. He needed some TLC and help finding an urgent care facility that accepted our insurance. While we waited for the doctor, M* and I treated ourselves to Starbucks! After surviving the tetanus shot, Dane continued working on the addition! Ah, the joys of parenthood—'Have kids, it'll be fun!'"

It Can't Rain All the Time

We walked the narrow path
Beneath the smoking skies
Sometimes you can barely tell the difference
Between darkness and light
Do you have faith
In what we believe?
The truest test is when we cannot
When we cannot see
I hear pounding feet in the
In the streets below, and the
And the women crying, and the
And the children know that there
There's something wrong, and
It's hard to belive that love will prevail
Oh, it won't rain all the time
The sky won't fall forever
And though the night seems long
Your tears won't fall forever
Oh, when I'm lonely
I lie awake at night
And I wish you were here
I miss you
Can you tell me
Is there something more to belive in?
Or is this all there is?
In the pounding feet, in the
In the streets below, and the
And the window breaks, and
And a woman falls, there's
There's something wrong, it's
It's so hard to belive that love will prevail
It won't rain all the time
The sky won't fall forever
And though the night seems long
Your tears won't fall
Your tears won't fall
Your tears won't fall forever
Last night I had a dream
You came into my room
You took me into your arms
Whispering and kissing me
And telling me to still belive
But then the emptiness of a burning sea
Against which we see our darkest of sadness
Until I felt safe and warm
I fell asleep in your arms
When I awoke I cried again
For you were gone
Oh, can you hear me?
It won't rain all the time
The sky won't fall forever
And though the night seems long
Your tears won't fall forever
It won't rain all the time
The sky won't fall forever
And though the night seems long
Your tears won't fall
Your tears won't fall
Your tears won't fall forever

Seafood boil / Gaga's B-day!

Dane doesn't feel good tonight, but I'm sure he'll feel better tomorrow. As for me, I'm trying to find some moments of sanity in the chaos of parenthood. You know what they say, 'Have kids, it'll be fun!' I'll wake in about four short hours to head to the Molalla River with Christian and Sam. Christian's planned a day of gold panning, Sam will enjoy shooting, and I'm taking books and the dog. Ah... the joys of parenting on little sleep, good thing we have coffee!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

It's past midnight, and I'm finally relaxing after a long, stressful day. We rushed Mom to the ER this afternoon due to complications from her gallbladder tube! The ER was so backed up after several painful hours she insisted on being released with an appointment in the morning to have it fixed. Dane cooked dinner for us all, but it didn't go over well with two of our four kids. Hey, at least he cooked, which I was thankful for! I'm worried about tomorrow's hospital procedure with Mom, but I'm looking forward to spending time with her. I'll take her out for coffee and share good company on the way to her appointment. My therapist told me today that change is inevitable, and I need to set aside time for myself. So, I'm looking forward to October...I'll be attending a Christian Women's retreat in the wilderness with my fellow sisters!

It's our Anniversary day all day long!

As typical, our day was up, down, up, and down. Thankful for these fun moments I captured.

Emma posed us..."Pretend you're the cool kid Dad, and Mom you're just chillin."

Chatty!

Peaceful alone time waiting for the boys. Emma, I'm sure is chatting Dane's ear off!

Back from the mile-long hike!

Thank you, Ga-Ga, for the refreshing drinks! We missed one member of the family, but hopefully, she'll join us next year

It was sweltering in the car! So we played "Freeze-Out!"

Fallen Sandcastles

Missed my ocean wave naps and freezing pool swims with the kiddos. But M* and I survived at home with the critters to keep us company. It's hard being a mama with my heart in two places!

Finally some summer fun!

My mother-in-law treated all the kids to Bullwinkels for the day! Fun with all minus one.

Boomer Jar

Our kids get frustrated when we use words coined by their generation. So for fun, we made a Boomer Jar...

Our next family member! I hope!!

God's perfect plan. We met this little boy last night. The lady who met with us said that she was once assaulted while showing her puppies, so she now meets in public places. What is wrong with people these days? Back to happy thoughts...Seeing her smile again, that's what everyone's looking forward to!!!

Calming Baby Sam!

All of my kids hated being strapped in their car seats! The majority of our trips involved enduring a crying baby in the back seat, which would stress us all out! Well, I found a solution for a more pleasant car ride with Mr. Samuel. While still pregnant, I made a family Smilebox slide show with the theme song "These Are the Days" by Tony Van Morrison. With all the continuous editing and sharing it with family and friends, he must have really come to like it there in my zen womb. Fast forward to when he was born...every time I played the song in the car, he'd instantly calm down and stop crying, which was amazing!

My dad... (draft)

Everyone knows my dad at a difference glance within the kaleidoscope.  I hope to hear more of who my dads was here today.

For me, I don't remember much before I was 10. Just bits and pieces before he and my moms divorce. I think I blocked it all out considering the hurt at the time. The next 10 years I spent with my mom and step father. Summers I would come to visit. We always made the trip to Dland and my beloved In-N-Out Burger. He'd always complain I ate him out of house and home... duh I was a teenager. And Sash would always take me under her wing to hang out and  just chill.

When my oldest was born I was so proud to introduce his first grandson. I took video of him and Christian in our living room practicing on how to crawl. I remember that feeling like it was yesterday!

(find this video/pics)

Again, 2 years later he was here to watch Maddy crawl for the first time.

(ditto)

The most common memory is the greeting at the airport.. and the saying goodbye at the airport. Which honestly makes me the most sad. I know you're supposed to be upbeat about someones life. But what about telling everyone you care about TODAY you matter to me all the time!!!

Anyone wanna guess what Sam's making tonight?
